It was established by international treaty and guarantees the quality of higher education in the Netherlands and Flanders by means of accrediting study programmes. University of Applied Sciences Government-funded: An institution funded by the Government, entitled to award officially recognized degrees and legally protected titles to graduates of their accredited programmes. Foreign University: Institutions may offer bachelor’s, master’s and other programmes that have not been accredited by the NVAO, but have been accredited by a university in another country. Information about the institution WICE (World Leisure International Centre of Excellence) is a collaborative endeavour of the World Leisure Organisation (www.worldleisure.org) and Wageningen University in the Netherlands. WICE started its activities in 1990, and has administered the MSc in Leisure, Tourism and Environment at Wageningen University (WUR) since 2002, together with the Chair Group Social-spatial Analysis of WUR (www.wu.nl/msc). The programme is international and cross-cultural. More than 250 faculty members participate in the global network of WICE. Many of them lecture in the programme, thereby bringing together an extraordinarily broad range of academic experience. The mission of this programme is to bring students and academics from all parts of the world together in a multicultural setting. The students come from all over the world and the number of students varies from 20 to 40 every year. This means the MSc functions as a unique international initiative relevant for the future career of the students. In addition to the MSc, WICE delivers refresher courses and short courses on demand, in Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
