Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle
Windesheim is one of the largest of the 55 Universities of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands with approximately 15,000 students. It offers study programmes in 50 different disciplines, which are grouped within the various departments. The emphasis is on student-focused, practice-oriented education. The college philosophy is outward looking and encompasses certain key ethical values such as truth, honesty, kindness and mutual respect.
Windesheim is eager to provide international programmes for the benefit of students and lecturers alike. Our objective is to incorporate international elements into all subjects taught at Windesheim, and foreign students are welcome to participate in these international programmes. Some students come to the Netherlands on an exchange scheme. To participate in these international programmes you will have to meet certain academic entry requirements and you must have an adequate command of the English language.
In 2004 Windesheim merged with the 'Vrije Universiteit' of Amsterdam. This alliance ensures an ongoing exchange of knowledge and a more complete package of educational opportunities. In the future, Windesheim will not only offer higher professional education degrees but also regular university degrees as well. Together, the two institutions will strive to offer appropriate study programmes to students at all levels of all backgrounds and nationalities.
At Windesheim we offer one 4-year BBA programme in English, called the Windesheim Honours College. Also, we offer many minors in English, like e.g. Doing business in China and Jornalism. In addition, we participate in many development aid projects in Surinam, Afrika, and other continents.

Information about the institution

VU University Amsterdam is a leading European research university, established in 1880 by the statesman and theologian Abraham Kuyper. The first Dutch university free of state and church interference. That heritage fuels our drive to excel and our closeness to the society in which we are rooted. We seek quality in education through structure, personal scale and ample scope for personal ambition and development. Some 23,000 students and 4,500 staff work closely together in pursuit of new knowledge, with scientific research as a key part of the educational process. Our students are challenged to ask critical questions, tackle problems and place what they are learning in a wider philosophical, ethical and social context.
Education is provided at three levels: Bachelor’s (BA, BSc), Master’s (MA, MSc) and doctoral (PhD). Twelve faculties share a single campus and cover a wide spectrum of arts, sciences and medicine. We have always encouraged scholars and students to look beyond the boundaries of their own fields.
VU University Amsterdam is internationally oriented and offers many multidisciplinary programmes based on outstanding research.
